HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS AND REVIEW

This is a pretty short book but packs a hefty story in those pages. The story begins with a family in a trailer park, lack of money and frayed tempers that lead to violence time and time again. Bree Walker, the oldest of three children has always had to take the role of little mother for her younger sister Alissa, now 16 years old while her brother had to toughen up from regular beatings from their dad.

Now there is only the two girls and their mother at the trailer but their mother works long hours while Bree works and still cares for her sister. When Bree returns home one day she finds her sister’s rug sack on the steps to the trailer with a note in the bottom giving here very clear instructions if she wants to see her alive again.

Within the first chapters, I felt helpless for Bree with an impossible dilemma and the clock ticking away every second of Alissa’s chances. This kidnapper was after something much more precious than money. Oh wow, there wasn’t much to go on but Bree was much wiser than her years.

There are some real shady characters in the story so trying to follow clues and work out what the hell was going on wasn’t going to be easy. Whatever it was it would either destroy this already broken family or help mend them. Loved the persistence of Alissa’s friend who over time had become as good as a member of the family, her family was even worse than theirs. One of the saddest things was the only person Bree had any faith in was herself.

The story got to me way after finishing it and makes you count the blessings you have. There are some really crazy people in this world and definitely some in this book.
