Firstly I wish to thank Caroline Vincent of Bits About Books for inviting me on the Blog Tour for Treble Clef by Malcolm Hollingdrake.
BOOK DESCRIPTION
Harrogate attracts hundreds of players to the annual Games Convention and for one player it is the perfect opportunity to kill by the mechanics of his own sinister game.
Each victim will die in the same way. Each will be classed as the loser and their time will have run out. The escape room and the game table will draw more, each believing they are invincible.
However, in every game there is always a traitor waiting in the wings.

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS AND REVIEW
Just when I thought that this series couldn’t get any better, this book has blown everything before it out of the water. Don’t get me wrong the whole Harrogate series is top wack, having read them all, but this is my favourite so far, but then again I use to be a keen gamer myself and well I was up for the challenge!
Bennett and Owen make a fabulous team of detectives where opposites attract. Bennett the more refined and cultured of the pair where Owen is a bit more rough and ready really, a speaker before a thinker. You just have to see them in action to appreciate this perfect pairing.
When a man is found dead in his hotel room it soon becomes obvious that it is murder with a sinister signature making it unique to the killer. Something that before long will happen again. The victims are soon connected to the annual Harrogate Games Convention which is taking place.
I absolutely loved the walkthroughs of these the games that were being played to find the ultimate champion of the year. I know, I know, a little geeky but we all have our outlet for relaxing. All walks of life brought together with mutual respect for gaming skills nothing else.
This was a real who done it and why story that had me perched on my toes every step of the way. The research just pure perfection yet again, as the author never fails to make every book as realistic as it possibly can be. Each story so very unique. The series addictive to any crime reader although each book can be read as a stand-alone, the thread of characters that run through it make it a solid read with people that I have grown to care about more than just as ‘characters’. Gosh, Mr. Hollingdrake you play with my emotions, what an end!
I thought at the beginning of this book, bring it on! And well he brought and conquered!
Highly recommended!
HERE IS A LITTLE ABOUT THE AUTHOR
You could say that the writing was clearly on the wall for someone born in a library that they might aspire to be an author, but to get to that point Malcolm Hollingdrake has travelled a circuitous route.
Malcolm worked in education for many years, even teaching for a period in Cairo before he started writing, a challenge he had longed to tackle for more years than he cares to remember.
He has written a number of successful short stories, has nine books now available and is presently writing the eighth crime novel set in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
Born in Bradford and spending three years at Ripon College, Malcolm has never lost his love for his home county, a passion that is reflected in the settings for all the DCI Bennett novels.
Currently, Malcolm is writing a new series which is set in Merseyside.
Malcolm has enjoyed many hobbies including collecting works by Northern artists; the art auctions offer a degree of excitement when both buying and certainly when selling. It is a hobby he has bestowed upon DCI Cyril Bennett, the main character in his successful Bennett series.
