Set in California Brook Connor has at first glance the perfect life. Brook is a successful best selling author and life coach married to previously widowed Logan an easy on the eye ex-actor and tennis coach to wealthy clients. He has a five-year-old daughter Paige, from his previous marriage, who Brook adores. When Brook arrives home from work the house is empty, both her stepdaughter and nanny are missing. Panic turns into sheer terror when she finds a note and something much worse.
This domestic noir thriller held so many surprises that it felt like Christmas, what a read! I literally jumped on board and peeled layers from the characters as the alternating chapters between Brook, Tyrone Giant and Jenna King who are investigating what has happened on dual timelines. Brook is in present-day looking back while the past works at a tense fast pace to catch it up in spectacular fashion.
What I loved about this story was the adrenaline strength that Brook had, the sort that when you really love someone you can lift cars, if you have to. There is also the constant reminder from the kidnappers that every move she makes is seen by them, hence the title. I had to be lead by the story as it never went where I thought it would go but all the subtle clues are there.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book which definitely had that wow factor for me. Suspense, thrilling and totally blown away!
