Firstly I wish to thank Sarah Hardy of Bloodhound Books for inviting me to be part of this Blog Tour for Wormwood by Larry Enmon
A twisty & darkly compelling read you won’t be able to put down.
In Dallas, Texas, Katrina Wallace goes missing. As the mayor’s daughter, her kidnapping triggers mounting political pressure and forces the Chief of Police to put two senior detectives on the case. Rob Soliz and Frank Pierce have done the impossible in the past, but their methods are unconventional.
The only evidence at the scene is a Bible found in the girl’s car and soon Frank and Rob find themselves involved in a disturbing investigation shrouded by Bible prophecy, doomsday cults, and murder.
Is Katrina still alive? And what exactly is Wormwood?
As the trail leads them into the woods of rural East Texas, Frank must deal with his lingering religious doubts and solve the case. His worst fears will be realised when he must discover the ugly truth about Wormwood. But he and Rob will have to get out alive to tell the story…
HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS AND REVIEW
I must admit that I have a bit of a fascination about religion and cults, especially in countries like the USA where they have surfaced in the news quite spectacularly in the past. Now this story although similar is on a much smaller scale with the cult members being more selected, using this term loosely here, rather than welcomed in. Don’t get me wrong it definitely doesn’t take the edge off them being totally twisted and extremely unstable as far as dangerous goes, just a little more focused on the grand scheme of things.
From the start this story was pure reading pleasure as I got to know the two leading detectives Rob Soliz and Frank Pierce. These two just bounced off each other, had boys will be boys moments, jaw dropping deep soul-searching confessions and an edge to them that kept my heart not far from my boots. An absolutely brilliant coupling of complex characters that weren’t short of spirit.
When Katrina Wallace, the wealthy daughter of the Mayor of Texas goes AWOL nothing is really thought of it, sulky solitary Katrina is known for her disappearing acts when she doesn’t get her own way but this time her abandoned car has been found with a Bible left in her place. Something is very wrong. Soliz and Pierce are put on the case.
When I wasn’t riveted to the all action story line I was totally enthralled with the fascinating background story of Wormwood as told by Frank. This really is an all round page after page reading gem. If you want something that is a little different but still very realistic then this makes a perfect book to read. I didn’t want it to end. Very excited about this author. Definitely one to watch out for.
