MY THOUGHTS AND REVIEW
What a tremendous idea this is for any series, to introduce all of the main characters in a novella. Graham Smith does this for his D.I. Evans series with the team appearing in short sharpe stories that give you an insight into their role and powerful personalities. This is such a simple idea and it’s simplicity is just pure genius. Just love it!
You are getting only a fraction of these characters but boy does it promise to make a cracking series. This is just the worm on the fishing line and he has reeled me in already. I am so looking forward to reading the full length novels with these characters especially as any books that now follow can be devoted to pure story not an who is who directory.
I really took a liking to DCI Lauren Philips who I believe could be quite an handful for D. I. Evans in future novels in this series.
THIS IS THE FIRST BOOK IN THE SERIES OF D.I. EVANS AND TEAM
AND IT SOUNDS GRITTY WITH LOTS OF ACTION AND GORE, TOTALLY UP MY STREET!
Middle-class parents Victoria and Nicholas Foulkes are distraught when their children are kidnapped against Nicholas’ gambling debts. Penniless and desperate the couple turn to crime as a way to raise the ransom.
Hot on their heels is recently bereaved DI Harry Evans and his Major Crimes team. Evans is fighting against enforced retirement and his replacement – DI John Campbell – is foisted upon him along with other cases. If he must leave the police then he wants one last big case before he goes.
In a race against time Victoria and Nicholas must evade the police while continuing to add to the ransom fund. If they don’t pay up on time the kidnappers have threatened to amputate their children’s limbs with an oxy-acetylene torch.
Can they save their children before time runs out
