DARKLY DREAMING by CHLOE HAMMOND

Darkly Dreaming, Book 1 of The Darkly Vampire Trilogy

Rae escapes the troubles in her life by dreaming, until the wake-up call of her fortieth birthday approaches.

Then she and her best friend retrace their student trip through France. They expect to find the sun-drenched days of their youth; instead they stumble into a nightmare. Infected by a rebellious vampire, Rae struggles with repugnance towards what she has become, while desiring the beautiful Pride leader, Guillaume. Against her will she is drawn into the Pride’s power struggle.

Will Rae succumb to the exhilaration of the hunt?
In this dreamless existence, will the intoxication of liquid dreams found in fresh blood prove irresistible? Can she win Guillaume’s confidence and love?
Or will the whole pride be destroyed by the High Council?

MY THOUGHTS AND REVIEW

I am so pleased to be featuring Chloe Hammond’s debut novel on my blog today.

This book can certainly hold its own against any other writer in the same genre as the author takes the traditional vampire and really vamps it up, making the whole story a truly gripping and compelling read. Her story is so refreshing and centres round two middle aged best friends that organise a trip to France with their old University mates. Things go down hill rather quickly after a few of the group encounter some rogue vampires. Rae and Layla soon find themselves facing a new beginning.

Although there are quite a few original vampire traits, Chloe Hammond has brought hers well and truly up to date giving them not only many new features, which were outstanding, but also every day problems to solve too. It seems that every possible aspect has been thought about throughly.

The story itself flows beautifully with written words that melted into wonderful imagery in my mind. The gruesome stuff has the passion of a hunter and the love story a hunt for the ultimate passion. What more could a reader want? Absolutely loved it Chloe Hammond. I hope to see more!
By the way this book has to have the best opening line ever. Brilliant.

I wish to thank Chloe Hammond for a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
